“I came into the studio with the idea of writing a love song,” says Wayne. “I had the melody, so I called Mark Collie, and he reached out to Jamie Moore to set up the session. We started tossing around ideas, and after experimenting with the melody and lyrics, ‘That’d Be You’ came to life. It was a really special moment when we finished. This song means a lot to me, especially since it was inspired by my girlfriend, whom I met at LSU. I wrote it not long after we started dating.”
The release of “THAT’D BE YOU” follows on the heels of Wayne’s previous release of the cover of Mel McDaniel’s 1981 hit “Louisiana Saturday Night.”
Since signing his major label deal with Universal Music Group Nashville’s Capitol Records Nashville in 2024, Wayne has captured the attention of both fans and critics alike. His debut single “God Made A Country Boy” – which Music Row called “well sung,” was followed by “Guy With A Guitar,” penned by Ben Hayslip, Lindsay Rimes, and Matt Rogers, and produced by Byron Gallimore and Tim McGraw. His heartfelt tracks have laid a strong foundation for his growing career.
Wayne’s quick rise in the country music scene has also seen him achieve major milestones. He performed at the 2025 Rose Parade on the Explore Louisiana float, toured as an opener for Tim McGraw on the “Standing Room Only Tour,” and recently opened for Lee Brice. This summer, he is set to open for Clay Walker, Jake Owens, Randy Houser, and more.
As Wayne continues to work on his debut project with Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore, his music seamlessly blends classic country influences with a contemporary sound, drawing inspiration from legends like Waylon Jennings, George Strait, Randy Travis, and Dierks Bentley, while remaining deeply inspired by Tim McGraw.
