The official video follows the release of the “Dancers Cut,” which dropped last Friday. Both videos were directed by Dano Cerny (The Chainsmokers, Wrabel, Elle King) over the course of two days in Portland, TN.  The retrospective narrative glimpses at the 50s, 80s, and finally current day with gorgeous performance footage, and contemporary dance woven throughout.

“The Daughters” has garnered support and high-praise from peers, fans, and press alike since the song’s release last Friday and its television world premiere on the ACM Awards this past Sunday. Many were brought to tears during the ethereal performance which featured the foursome surrounded by 26 female dancers of every age, race, size, and shape.

This is the first new music to drop from the band’s upcoming ninth studio album and press has already taken notice;  praising the brave nature and honest lyrics behind the track. See notable quotes below.

TIME

A tender, unflinching reflection on the superficial standards women are held to, it will speak to many women who have put their own dreams second to the requirements of society, family or both…

…a delicate reminder that we are not alone in our struggle.

Little Big Town Moves the ACMs to Tears With an Emotional Performance of “The Daughters”

…a bold, emotional statement calling for change.

Rolling Stone

While the lyrics are empowering and even eviscerating, it was Fairchild’s emotional delivery that made the performance so mesmerizing. As she reached the end, singing about how she loves her son and her father, Fairchild’s voice audibly cracked.

…“Daughters” is an inequality anthem that tugs at the heartstrings, challenges the gender imbalance so prevalent in country music and — in Little Big Town’s boldest move since “Girl Crush” — dares radio DJs to leave it off their playlists.

their new single has the ability to stop you in your tracks…

Dressed in all white, the quartet performed its live debut of new single “The Daughters,” a heartstring-tugging ballad that blatantly calls out the unfair burdens society often forces young girls to carry. If lyrics like “And pose like a trophy on a shelf/ Dream for everyone but not yourself” weren’t emotional enough, a troupe of contemporary dancers rushed to the middle of the stage to bring the song’s grappling theme to life.
